I am now Officially Confused about setting up wages for part-time workers. I'm finding all sorts of stuff in the knowledge base about how to enter/change this information, but no guidance on determining what it should be. More specifically, on the Wages tab of Employees: [list] * In the "Salary/Rate Information" box, what is the significance of the "Default Hours" setting? How should this be set, for example, for an employee who averages 10 hours a week? * In the "Pay Frequency" box, what is the significance of the "Hours" setting, and what determines the setting? (All our folks are paid semi-monthly/24 checks a year. Our full timers are paid for 86.67 hours/ppd.) [/list] I'll be greatful for any guidance! Bob P.

Bob, How it works is if you enter default hours you can automatically generate time sheets from Blackbaud as long as people work only the hours they are suppose to. We do not do this though because nobody ever works the hours they are suppose to. We use an outside database to import exactly what rate and hours a person works each pay period. By the way your employees get paid 26 times a year 52/2 not 24. The best way is to play around with the different settings and see what works for you best. Our biweekly people are set as biweekly 26 pays but no default hours so when we generate a time sheet batch we can then import the hours into the batch.

Actually semi-monthly payroll is 24 times a year (2 times 12), bi-weekly is 26 times a year (52/2).
