    Address Accelerator

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with the April/May Address Accelerator (formerly known as Address Validation.) This is the second time I have had to practically turn the system inside out to get it to work. The Data Enrichment Services support seems nearly as frustrated as I am. The previous time period worked fine, but the one prior to that required manual changes to the registry. Oh how I hate when the end user becomes the tester.

I'm experiencing difficulty also. Some of my workstations work and some don't. So far, I haven't got it working. It is frustrating. I'll share whatever I learn in this forum. Please do the same. It's just a pain at this point. Nora Isaac Manager, Information Technology The ALS Association, Greater Phila. Chapter [Email Removed]

Here's what I had to do to get it working this time: From my own workstation, Uninstalled R.E Uninstalled Address Accelerator. Edited the register and removed the Satori software file. Reinstalled R.E. Reinstalled Address Accelerator to my local drive Copied the unzipped Address Accelerator files to the shared server drive. Went to each workstation and deleted then reset the User"s File Location path to the Address Accelerator files on the shared server drive. Opened one record and ran the address update. On some workstations, I had to do this step twice. I fed all ths back to the Data Enrichment support group. Their answer to me was that they were going to speak to the programming group and try to resolve the problems with this program before the May/June downnload. Time will tell. "You are not alone" - yes, I've had trouble wiht the last 3 Address accelerator datafile loads; I have an easier solutiuon though, there is a 'fix' utility that BB sent to me (don't ask why your support rep didn't suggest it :( that I will be happy to furnish if you'll send your email. Any others are welcomed to email me if you need it as well. It's called InstallFix.reg (comes in a zip file), which you execute if you have a problem on any user workstation. It replaces the registry value after you have 'installed' the address accelerator files. Ours are on a server, so when users connect & get the 'postal CD is corrupt or out of date' I go to their workstation & run this 'utility' to set their PC registry values straight. End-user testing - hey it's a Microsoft thing & BB is, well, BB...:))) Jim RE Applications Administrator Wycliffe Bible Translators [Email Removed]

I am not sure if this solves your problem as you haven't described it in detail, we are on ver 7.71.936 and server 2003 I posted the solution in the administrative part of forum few days ago, "1607:Unable to install InstallShield Scripting runtime" error message when you try to install April_May Address Validation update, error happens while extracting ISScript150.msi from April_May BB AddressAccelerator update We overcome the install problem in simplest way possible. This is the solution: Install the Address Validation aka Address Accelerator update on any workstation or server which allows you to install. Doesn't matter if is 2000, XP or Server 2003 machine as long as it allows you to install. Copy the resulting files on your server or wherever you serving the Address Validation to your users, to the folder wher Accelarator was previously installed: This a list of files you need: Address.cas eLOT.cas Update.exe Then run update.exe on your server (you need your windows admin privileges on this server) Problem is caused by bad packaging of BB install .msi for Address validation update which is not checking OS version and installer version. On Windows Server 2003 the installer ver 3.1 is an integral part of server installation and it can not be upgraded or changed by third party software. Your install is probably trying to replace it with different version which causes the installation failure. Let me know if it solved your problem, We had various other issues with Address Validation aka Accelarator Andrew Gorczycki CRM Integration Analyst The Solomon R. Looks like we've each had different problems with Address Accelerator. I sent a note to BB support about the Installfix file - just to check that it was compatible with the Canadian version. Their answer was: "Yes, I am aware of the utility and it can be run on the Canadian version. However, it was designed to correct a problem in a previous version of AddressAccelerator only. It does not have any useful effect on the April/May AddressAccelerator update." I have a feeling that I'll be facing a different problem with each download. Harriet Farmer Ottawa Humane Society
