    posting pay method in RE

We have purchased the Financial Edge program and are currently working on linking the 2 databases (Raiser's Edge and Financial Edge). When I batch in Raiser's Edge the pay methods (personal cheque, business cheque, credit card etc) is in a drop down menu (hard table format) which I cannot edit. I need to show a further breakdown in the credit card area e.g. visa, MasterCard, debit for Financial Edge GL. How does everyone else out there do this so that the information is reflected in the Financial Edge database? I have created a gift subtype, do I need to create anything else? Any ideas would be helpful!

Hi Lisa- When I was at another organization, we were also attempting to integrate the two databases, we had the same issue, the suggestion that was made by BB was that we use the Gift Subtype field which can be added to the general ledger info when posting. However, we did not actually ever get to integrate for other reasons, so I don't know if that would have worked. Thought you might like at least a suggestion. Renee A. This solution (using gift subtypes) did work for my organization. We integrated RE and GL using this method in summer 2004 and have had no major issues. One complication is that the canned reports then don't work the way you might want them to work once you have organized your funds by gift subtype. The default organization scheme in RE is that funds go under campaigns, and the canned reports assume you want your data organized this way. But this won't help you know if your numbers match for all the gift subtypes, which, it turns out, is what management at my organization want to see in reports they use for decision-making, not necessarily the campaign totals. So we did a custom report for this and are only now, years later, getting that into a Crystal Reports report that decision-makers will eventually be able to run themselves from their RE dashboards when needed. It's a little slow-going, and a lot of the process depends on your relationship with your accounting staff.
