Working around the outstanding issues in FE

We were asked by our sales representative last week if we were ready to move to FE. I started researching information about FE and was amazed by the fact that there are 53 pages worth of outstanding issues with FE. For those of you who are running FE how are your daily procedures going with the problems in FE? Have you been able to find ways to work around problems until they are fixed?

I would not worry about those outstanding issues. Yes, there are things we would like to do which we can't, there are a few things we have had to do work arounds on, but by and large we have had no problems in the almost three years we have been on it. It is easier to use than Accounting for NonProfits. I have been very grateful for a stable product - at my previous job we had crashes of our accounting software fairly regularly. I would agree with Connie. We have been on Financial Edge for about four months with no significant issues. I should mention that we do not do payroll using Financial Edge. Payroll seems to be a prominent area of concern among the users. Sharon Reynolds Sierra Vista Regional Health Center Foundation

I agree as well. As with any software package, there are things you can not do or wish would run faster; but we have been served adequately so far. We are running GL, AP & FA under FE. We have not upgraded Student Billing or Misc Cash Receipts yet, and will continue to wait a while before we do so.

We've had tremendous success with the FE software, except for the occasional glitch here and there. It has made our life so much better here, particularly around audit time. Michael Bankert VP, Finance & Administration California State Parks Foundation

We would be looking at using Payroll, Accounts Payable, General Ledger with Projects and Grants, Cash Receipts, maybe Purchase orders, Accounting queue, EFT, and integration with Raiser's edge. We may also check into other optional modules.

We have experienced some glitches, but overall we are very pleased. We have G/L with projects and A/P and will convert Payroll and Student Billing in the near future. I think our account structure is the key that enables us to create reports for normal operations as well as all of the different reports required by various boards and committees. Query is a wonderful program because when all else fails, it works! We would like to be able to flag our accounts that require project numbers, but have been unsuccessful in getting that option so far. Charlotte Clark Brookstone School Columbus, GA

We have been using FE for about 3 years now. I can't say we are as pleased as the rest of you. We have used other financial software that is easier to use. We are not a school and do not receive alot of donations so what ever benefit Blackbaud may issue in that area we can't comment. We can definately say Payroll 7 has been a bear to use. I like payroll 6 better. They made alot of changes and what you gain in one area you lose in other areas. We are currently on patch 10. They keep fixing things as we go. This has been going on since November 18th when we converted over to payroll 7. Maybe by the time others convert things will be better.
