Does anyone have exerpience that would lead them to choose one product over the other for Wealthpoint vs. Wealthengine? I know one is cheaper, but in terms of overall benefits, which one would you/ do you use and why?

We recently went through the process of choosing between Wealthpoint and Wealthengine. We chose Wealthpoint/The Researcher's Edge. One of the main reasons we chose it was that it is easier to bring the data into RE. As you mentioned, at first we looked mostly at cost and it seemed prohibitive. However, we worked with our sales person and came up with a package in our budget that gave us the options we needed. We're not a school, but I hope this helps.
