Hi
Has anyone successfully used Notepads or Action Notes in a crystal report and combined it with using either boxes or lines when formatting the report?
I have a report that includes both of the above which runs without any problem but when I try and make the report more readable by using boxes or lines to seperate each constituent and/or each column it just goes all pear shaped and I get the column lines running off the page or empty boxes appearing at the bottom of the page.
If anyone has any tips I'd love to hear them!
Thanks

Hi Peter, Adding lines and boxes to a crystal report can be really fiddly. I don't use boxes myself with notepads. Instead I set the notepad field to 'can grow' and then right click over the details section and insert a new section below. I add a horizontal line to the new details section. Then I add vertical lines to separate the columns. When adding vertical lines you only need to cover the detail section - from the top line of the first details section to the bottom of the second details section. You have to be pretty precise. I can email you something across if that would help? Peter, I have successfully done this. I have a report which includes action notes. All the fields (including action notes) are in the group header in my report. I have the details section marked as suppressed and the line is at the top of the group footer. The line appears below each constituent's info and makes the info look organized. I think the trick with notes and lines is to insert the line in a section below (or above) where you want it to appear in the report, so it won't run through notes when they are long. You can email me if you have any questions or problems. Elisabeth McMillon Database Administrator The Oregon Zoo Foundation [Email Removed]
