    Seasonal Addresses

This question is to any users that work where seasonal addresses are widely used: We are an agency in FL. Our database is largely made up of constituents with dual addresses (both north and south). We like to show their southern address as the primary on the record and if they have a northern address I utilize the "seasonal address" function and base it on the general dates our snowbirds go back and forth unless I have been provided specific dates. When we get the NOCA address updates many are showing their northern addresses. In some cases, for whatever reason I know for certain (on my own) not to change some to only have a northern address because I know they have two addresses. But for the most part I am never really sure whether the northern address is now their ONLY address for some reason or I should add it to the record as a secondary (seasonal address - if I don't have it). Is anyone else having the same problem in determining whether the one address is now the ONLY address for some reason?? If so how do you handle it?
    Thanks.

Hi Julie, Yes we have the same issue. We rely on each parish to give us the most current update; but it's far from perfect. With so much of our database having northern and southern addresses, we usually have to wait for the pledges to come in and switch the preferred address at that time. Same problem here, so I've created a query of those people having seasonal address data and now plan to exclude them from the NCOA/PeopleFinder process. I've also noted this same problem when using Harris Directory updates.

I created a business rule for the query so that when data entry staff open a record they will be prompted to review the Addresses tab. Hopefully this will help to stop all the unnecessary back and forth changes.

We are planning a future mailing to anyone with seasonal address data to ask them for an update of their locations and dates. I'd love to hear from anyone that has already made such request. Would you please share a copy of the letter sent?

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Nancy and Sandy for your responses and ideas. If we do a mailing to our "seasonals" I will let you know Nancy. Good idea to exclude the seasonals from the NCOA process. Julie Blount [Email Removed] Database Manager Catholic Charities, Diocese of Venice, Inc.
