Exit vs. Exit and Sign Out

Hi Everyone, I'm not sure where I am on this discussion but if you don't already know from the KB, you can hit the X and log out with VBA. See solution BB84914. BB needs to update their KB to point people to this resolution. Thanks.

Sorry, I should have said you can hit the X and 'Sign Out' of RE. I'm not sure if this was the issue for this discussion. --- Edited at 9/30/2006 12:42:53 PM by Patrick Nagaro

Yes, but, you would actually have to own VBA to do it. No way we'll pop for that module just for this. So, not a solution for us.

Exit vs. Exit and Sign Out

Greeting, I'm new with RE & FE and at our organization, we also have request to force X to sign out as well. I follow instruction to search for Solution BB84914, but can't find it from Knowledge Base?? Thank you in advance Mydieu

Exit vs. Exit and Sign Out

Hi, I do know how frustrating it is when users don't Exit & Sign-out especially if you are trying to run the unpost utility. We use Citrix to get to RE and if someone forgets to exit & sign-out I have their Citrix userid disconnected and that seems to be working. As for why BB allows this, I can just speculate, but there are times when we are running queries that are taking a long time so all we need to do is open a new instance of RE. If you have more than one instance open then you'll only see Exit on the additional logins. We have found this very helpful. I hope this is helpful. Thanks Theresa

Exit vs. Exit and Sign Out

Thank you Theresa! That's very helpful information, we have 3 different sites access the application and we all new to the apps, although disconnect Citrix userid is a very good option, I would prefer have another work around, it may be more work for developer but it will be a little more friendly user to the users and in version 7 it only let you sign in to 1 RE or FE at a time so X' out and sign out should work for us if we can do it....Do you happen to save KB solution BB84914 by any chance? Thanks Mydieu

All versions of RE7 that I have ever been on have allowed me to open more than one instance at one time. Melissa S. That's my experience too, that you can have several copies open at the same time. In fact, if we have our limit of seven concurrent users I can still open more than one.
