    Phone number format

Is there a way to set up a default format for phone numbers? We want all phone numbers to have the format XXX-XXX-XXXX but everyone enters the phone numbers a little differently. We would like to make a default format that autmatically enters the hyphens. Thanks in advance.

In Config - Tables - Phone Types you can set up your preferred format. Then you can just enter the 10 digits and then tab out and it formats itself. It is nice. Melissa S. Graves Databse Administrator Planned Parenthood of Connecticut [Email Removed] 203-752-2804

Stacy, In version 6.4, phone numbers can be given a default format in Configuration/Preferences/Misc. BTW, you might want to consider using the (xxx) xxx-xxxx format. This allows you to search on the parens if you have an area code change (altho you might be able to search on "field begins with xxx-; I haven't tried this). As for formatting the numbers retroactively, I had to export them, format them in Excel, and then import the corrected numbers. Hope this reaches you -- it's the first time I've responded to something on the "new" Forum. Walter Koenig NJ Audubon [Email Removed]
