    Gift Match: Challenge Grant issues

We've got a challenge grant on the table. New gift dollars are matched 50%. Since RE7 does not have the capability to do this in an automated fashion with existing fields, I have figured out a workaround utilizing the Matching Gift tab, but I have run into a problem. Here's what I've done, and also the problem:

    1) Created a new constituent record, "Moneybags Challenge", for the challenge grant. Indicated that Moneybags matches at 50%.

    2) Entered the gift in Suzie Q's record, selected Matching Gift tab and manually changed the Moneybags match to the correct dollar amount, if necessary. [Remember, Moneybags is only matching NEW gift dollars.]

PROBLEM: When it comes time to report (Annual Report, for example) it is our policy to credit matching gifts to the donor. That way Suzie Q can get the $$ credit and be elligible for a higher giving category than her stand-alone gift would have allowed. We DO NOT want to credit the Moneybags Challenge dollars to the donor.

Does anyone know how to exclude that? We are currently thinking along the lines of a gift record Attribute that can be filtered out in a report. ...but we're not confident about that.

Any input to get us onto a logical thought process would be greatly appreciated!

could you not build it into your business rules that the tab that says credit matching gift to donor excludes all donations who are being matched by record # x akak moneybags? [Email Removed] 562-951-5341

When running queries or reports select the option to credit Matching gifts to Donor. That way all matching gifts - regardless of the organization that matched them will be credited to the individual. When looking at giving histories we normally select both so we can see who the MG companies are. Elaine Tucker [Email Removed] Texas Lutheran University
