    Statistical reporting

Does anyone hold stats within an FE GL? We are new users to FE and are struggling with how to include statistical data in financial reports within FE. We make productivity calculations using income statement accounts and are keying in the statistical data in a separate defined column to make the calculation. The weakness is we have to keep every report separately in order to reprint the financial statement, and with 20 projects the list is growing long. Any comments would be appreciated

You may need the Allocation Management module. Sorry I can't be more help than that. We purchased the module when we switched account software, but have not yet used it.

You can design some limited calculations in a separate column in the reports module.

We are only three months on FE and currently include per diem computations in a column of the report as you suggest, but the stat itself can't be viewed in the report and instead of referencing a stat we have to enter it for each report and save it if we want to run the report again. This means twelve copies of every report for a year. I was interested if anyone has a dummy account for stats within their GL or uses statistics within a crystal report instead of through FE.

Rick, We don't use Crystal Reports, but we do a lot of calculations in excel using downloads from Blackbaud. I actually produce monthly financials out of excel. I run a query in Blackbaud and then pull that into excel. Once I had the formatting set in excel, it is a very quick process to refresh the data. If I need to go back a month, I just change the month in the Blackbaud query and everything pulls correctly. Renell

We also use Excel for reports, but have not found an export format that brings the data in a layout that doesn't require alot of manual formatting. Always exports with extra columns and rows. Has this been your experience? If not, which export format do you use?

Sorry, no help here....we also export to excel and transfer numbers to preformatted reports. I would have expected to be able to have more flexibility with the reports that are created right in FE. I kept playing with it, but found it quicker to use excel.

I export my queries out of Blackbaud into a text file format. I can then easily pull them into excel. It does take a little time to first format the excel file the way I want it, but after that is accomplished all I have to do is to re-run the query, save over the original text file, and refresh my excel worksheet. It really only takes a couple of minutes to update a very big excel file.
