    Exporing Zip Code

This has probably come up before in the forum, but here goes. When I run a query and then export the query into Excel and then mail merge into Word, when I include the zip code field in the merge, if the zip code is a 9 digit zip code, I get a 0 for my zip code in my merged Word document. Is there some setting I need to change? Cindy [Email Removed] Cindy American Civil War Center

How about exporting the data as a .csv file, which will preserve the formatting you want (I found this out with exporting currency. I think it had something to do with the Office 4x, but hey, who knows? Really. Anyone?) Or, you can export as a Word Merge file. That seems pretty stable. Good luck Joyce Lane [Email Removed]

You can also trying using the DDE to connect to the excel document. This is how I pull dollar amounts across from excel without losing the formatting. The link below will walk you through doing this. It involves a few extra mouse clicks while setting up the merge, but after that its flawless (or at least as flawless as microsoft can be ) http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320473  Doug Doug Creek University of Alaska Database Administrator [Email Removed]

Have you tried exporting to Excell and highlighting the zip code column then going to Format, Cell, Special, Zip Code. This should give you the format you need. Beth Palmer Director of Development Gaston Day School Gastonia, NC 704 864 7744 X224
