    Validation performance issues

We are having performance issues with our import validation process since we switched to FE 7.2 Anyone else experience this difficulty? Any suggestions?

Can you be more specific about your validation issues?

Prior to moving to FE 7.2 validation on a journal entry import file containing approximately 300 records would take about one minute. Now it is taking 20 minutes or more. The only variable thus far has been the switch to MS SQL Server. We are currently working with tech support, but I thought that there may be someone who has dealt with this issue already. I am also interested if others are having performance issues on the 7.2 version. I have seen some performance issues with saving invoices with long GL distributions on 7.2.

Yes! Some of the reports take forever to run. The posting of Journal Entries takes longer. The person that posts from Student Billing (from 6x) is moving very slowly with evey deposit that she enters. We moved to a new server, but the increase in speed seems minimal.

We recently converted from 6.4 to 7.2 and our reports are running VERY slowly. The balance sheet and income statement used to run in less than a minute and now take from 10-20 minutes each to run. I was convinced it was the server, but after reading your message I am beginning to wonder.

Our reports also run very slowly in version 7.2. We have found that the run time depends on the statement body format selected in the sort field. Reports where the detail is shown by account run as quickly as they did under the previous version. However, when the sort is changed to show the summary by characteristic (ie. project), the report run time increases dramatically. We have gotten around the problem somewhat by adding additional filters. For example, for a report that shows a summary by project for a particular fund, we filter the report on both fund and project, rather than just fund. The additional filtering decreased the run time from approx. 40 minutes to less than 2 minutes.
