    Blackbaud's Finder Products

Does anyone currently use PhoneFinder, DeceasedRecord Finder or Email Finder? If so, what has been your experience with these products?

We recently used PhoneFinder and DeceasedRecord Finder and I felt the results were very good. The main problem with a few records that were reported as deceased and they were not was the deceased was a Sr. but our record was a Jr. Or the record was listed as Mrs. George Smith, so the deceased information we had was for George and not the Mrs. Depending on the number of records you send, you might be able to cull out potentials problem records before sending the file. I'm wondering if DeceasedRecord Finder is exactly what we have been looking for. I'm not familiar with the product. Is it an optional module? If so, does anyone have an idea of the cost? What does it search to determime the deceased? Lori Del Nero Administrative Assistant VNA/Hospice of Monroe County East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania [Email Removed]

We were quoted $695 for 50,000 records and $10 for each additional 1,000 records. DeceasedRecord Finder is not an optional module. Blackbaud uses Social Security # Death Benefits website to verify deceased records.

I believe they use other databases in addition to SS. We sent a file of almost 50,000 to them and had no social security numbers. In fact the file format that they requested we send them did not ask for SS#. Dee Demling Database Administrator The New York Botanical Garden

We do not track SS# either. But I have used the SS# Benefits website before and SS# are not required. Based on the information BB provided to me last week, they match name, city and state along with other RE information to confirm a match.

I did express mild interest in "Deceased Finder." But be aware that a BB Sales Rep called me repeatedly despite my firm explanation why my org would not need such a product. One being that our DB is relatively small, but more importantly, that the Finder program does not check Individual Relationships. Jim Magin Associate Director, Dev. We used DeceasedFinder anda got ok results.  We also submitted it a second time to run on spouses (there is a KB solution).  There is a problems with a small handful of records coming back as deceased hat are not actually deceased.  Usually similar names (Jr./Sr.).

PhoneFinder was too expensive.  We don't do phone-a-thons so not a big deal to us.

EmailFinder was pretty good.  We got a good deal on it and it returned a lot of results.  But some of those results I already had in the database.

I'd like to see something to help clean up organizational relationships that no longer exists.  JobFinder, perhaps?
