Best way to enter raffle ticket information

We operate a dream home lottery with about 5,500 tickets. Each ticket needs to be assigned a unique ticket number for printing the ticket. Currently we use the Events module to accomplish this. Are there any organizations out there that run their own similar type lotteries? I would appreciate hearing how you enter the ticket purchase information including name, ticket number, purchase date, purchase amount, gift type, etc. Stan Heller, Executive Director Chinook Health Region Lethbridge, Alberta Stan Heller, Executive Director Chinook Health Region Lethbridge, Alberta

Re: Best way to enter raffle ticket information

I would suggest entering this as a normal goods & services type gift (listing the benefits as a Raffle ticket and $0.00 receipt amount) I can email you a detailed screen shot if you need something to visualize.

    Some quick thoughts

If you are printing the raffle tickets yourself and using a number from the database I would suggest using the Receipt number or the Gift ID Number which are numbers that generate via the RE system and should be unique numbers for each gift. Cons to this would be if someone purchased multiple raffle tickets in one gift purchase

If you already have hard-printed tickets and you need to link the ticket number to the gift I would suggest a Gift Attribute - but you'll need to manually manage this process since you could possibly assign multiple people the same ticket number. This could be managed somewhat easier by making it a table lookup in the gift attribute, depending on how many raffle tickets you sell.
