We're looking at Wealthpoint and Wealth Engine. Our new Dir. of Dev. thinks WealthEngine may give us more for our money now, but we haven't made a final decision. I'll share any info we get. Please let me know if you find out more. Thanks, Nora Isaac Manager, IT ALS Assoc., Greater Phila Chapter

We've been using BARC and Wealthpoint for about 8 months now. As with all things Blackbaud - there is more under the surface than expected. While BARC and RE do talk with each other - you can open a record from BARC in RE once linked - there is no way to keep information consistent between then unless you also purchase Search or Prospect Modules. The decision to purchase BARC and Wealthpoint was done before I got involved and some important questions were not asked. The data consistency thing is VERY important but you do need additional modules. Additionally once your orginal BARC screening is done you have data that is accurate as of that date. Now with wealthpoint you can update or add new people to BARC and do a screening but that is another fee. BARC and Wealthpoint just gives you raw data and it casts a pretty wide net. You need to determine if the John Smith that is your constituent matches all the data BARC and Wealthpoint returns. Scoring - or the determiniation if the consitutent will actualy give is an additionaly fee - but obviously well worth it. The scoring modeling is very involved and gives you the type of information you really need. A consitutent may have the ability to give - but modeling indicates they won't - so why waste a bunch of time and effort going after it. We didn't get it - again I was not involved in the decision to purchase and the "correct" questions were not asked. So we basically have raw data - once screen to determine if it is all applicatable to our consistuent and it is up to us to decide if they will give or not. We just know they have the ability to give. Overall BARC and Wealthpoint are good tools - we went with it due to its promised intregration with RE - however full intergration requires additionaly RE modules. Typical for Blackbaud! Other tnings to consider is the who will have access to this very personal data. While it is data from public records - some consistentents may be very put off knowing you were looking at this data. We gave access to a fund development specialist with written instructions on what they were to do - however the individual started doing what they felt was best and created a MAJOR incident with a potential Major capital donor. So just beware! Scott A. Crow VP Information Services Girl Scouts of Glowing Embers Council [Email Removed]
