    Check printing

Hello. We are thinking about switching to printing checks on a laser printer (moving from an old dot matrix) Has anyone else done the same and if so, any words of wisdom? Was this a good move for you? Appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

We use a LaserJet 5 and it works great. Just make sure you find a good vendor to order your check stock from. This makes life for our A/P clerk super easy.

We have been printing checks on an HP LaserJet for quite some time. I wouldn't do it any other way. We have very few problems.

We acquired an HP LaserJet 2300 and print our checks from blank stock using a Troy MICR toner cartridge. Have done this since converting over to Blackbaud in 2002. The 2300 is a very quick, reliable printer with nearly 4 times the memory capacity of our old LaserJet 6 printer. We found out that Blackbaud was overwhelming the memory of the old printer and causing a printing "glitch" with every run of checks. That problem went away with the new printer. We use a Troy MICR 4100T Secure EX with blackbaud stock and it has been very reliable. Scott Barker Tri County Mental Health Services.
