We are planning to send different solicitations to our contacts based on giving history and I am unsure how to perform the query. This is what we want: 1. Contacts who have never given to the ageny. 2. Donors who were 1st time donors last year through June 2003 3. Lapsed donors (gave at some point but not last year 2002) 4. Donors who have given consecutively upto 2002. Any guidance from anyone? I am looking at the queries and think I may have to do multiple pulls but am not sure how to make mutually exclusive.

You should read the User guide regarding the Segment Mail Tab as this is a great (and highly under-used) tool that can do exactly what you need. It can take a group of queries, and once you align them correctly according to priority, you can create OUTPUT queries (which you can then run a quick letters data file), and you'll have seperate data files - each broken down by your query type - without any duplicates (thus the important reason for putting the queries in priority).

You can even add the assigned appeal/package from the Segment Mail tab when you do this - making a lot of work very simple.
