    Soft Closing (revisited)

I wish I could soft close all the modules (after they are posted) while I keep the month open in General Ledger and finish work on Financial Statements for the same month. Sometimes I have a month open to work on month end journal entries and the A/P staff will enter an invoice and enter a post date for the very month I have already posted. Does this make sense to anyone? Colleen

I agree--we have similar problems in our organization. Anyone been able to get around this? Michael Bankert VP, Finance & Administration California State Parks Foundation

This feature of soft closing in other modules would be an added benefit to ensure that the financials do not change every time you run GL reports. We had similar problems after implementation. Now we control it through queries ( manual checks) and one feature that has helped is that our IT put in a default posting date, which is when the invoice is entered. Although one can overide the date, it has helped. Kamal Rajani Nature Conservancy of Canada

We were having the same problems. We use emails now to control it. When each module is closed the person responsible sends an email to everyone in finance saying that "Accounts Payable is closed for the month of xxxx". I would rather have something in the system, but we've been doing this for 4 months and it has stopped the out of period entries. Chuck Craig Akron Zoological Park

That's a great idea. Has it been filed as a suggestion?

it should be. We had that in our old Software (Solomon) - you had to individually close each module and GL separately. They should implement this with FE.
