    Membership Reports

I need to run a report that compares our members at this point in time this year to this point in time last year. I then need to break this down further by zip code but right now I'll settle for just getting the right data. Running the current membership report is no trouble but I seem to jamming up at coming up with a way to find out everyone who was active as of January 04. Thoughts? Ideas? Many Thanks. MARYANNE NIGRO: The Comparative Membership Statistics report may do the job. You can compare your membership for different months/years/etc (1/1/03-12/31/03 vs. 1/1/04-12/31/04, for example). I haven't used it a lot. Hope this helps. Walter Koenig

MARYANNE: P.S. to my previous reply: What's the Current Membership Report that you refer to?

BTW, You may be aware that the Current Membership Statistics by Category Report doesn't work in 7.7 -- which is the first issue listed in the Outstanding Issues List! (Bummer, because I depended on it for my membership statistics prior to "upgrading" to 7.7.) Walter Koenig

For current memberships I run a simple constituent query with the parameters of Current Standing = New or Active and Category = One of X, Y or Z. I just use this for a snapshot for membership numbers and to give our front desk lists of current members. The canned Membership Directory also has its uses although I prefer the query b/c I can manipulate my data a little easier into a more useful format. BTW, thanks much for the comparative report idea. It has worked perfectly. Yeah I'm also a little bummed about the category report. That was a handy report to have on hand. Guess we'll just have to wait for the next upgrade. P.P.S. to all: I misspoke when I said the Membership Statistics by Category Report wouldn't work when we upgraded to 7.7. It actually wouldn't work as soon as we upgraded from ver 6 to ver 7. (Still doesn't work in 7.7.874.0038 -- see the Ver. 7 Outstanding Issues List.) Walter Koenig Membership Coord. New Jersey Audubon Society 908-204-8998 [Email Removed]

    Membership Reports

Maryanne: I'm amazed that you've found the comparative report to work "perfectly." We've tried to use it for 3-4 fy's and get very strange numbers. Each year seems to grow (great!), but it doesn't match our real numbers except in the current year. I've looked at the criteria RE uses. This is what it says for the END column:
    End
This column displays the final number of members or memberships in a particular program, category, or subcategory. The program arrives at this number by subtracting the total number of memberships with the option of Renew Upgrade Out, Renew Downgrade Out, Upgrade During Cycle Out, Downgrade During Cycle Out and dropped from the total number of memberships with an option of Start, New, Renew Upgrade In, Renew Down In, Rejoin Same, Rejoin Upgrade In, Rejoin Downgrade In, Upgrade During Cycle In, and Downgrade During Cycle in.

Nowhere can I find out what this "In" and "Out" are. Can anyone help? I'm using All Records and using the Sart and End dates in the Report Period for the time periods. Perhaps I need a query? But why should I have to??
