    Trouble e-mailing w/ Outlook 2003

Since converting to Outlook 2003, my organization has had problems sending out large numbers of e-mails through RE. We’re running RE 7.61 installed on Windows XP Professional machines.

We send e-mails every month to our members. Frequently we send to more than 1,000 individuals, sometimes more than 3,000 individuals. We send the e-mails to each individual using Global Add – Action. We also use the Express ClickYes program that forum members recommended to get around Outlook 2003’s new security feature. Everything runs normally until we get to about 397 e-mails, and then bam – RE just stops. The actions add up and I get the message that 397 e-mails were sent and the rest were all exceptions.

To work around the problem, I have to create a query group that includes the 397 individuals that received the e-mail and had the action added to their record and then merge it with my original query group using SUB to get a group that includes all those that did not receive the e-mail. I then go through the whole Global Add – Action process all over again. As you can see, when we need to send e-mail to more than 3,000 people, it takes hours to send it in batches of 400 – so I’d rather not have this workaround as my permanent solution! Before we had Outlook 2003, everything worked fine. We could send e-mails to more than 5,000 people if we wanted to without a single hiccup.

Has anyone else run into this problem or figured out how to solve it? Blackbaud support is stumped and I’m desperate for a better solution.

When I went to training a few months ago I could swear they said it would only work with Outlook 2000. Sailynn Doyle Community Relations Coordinator Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Massachusetts 502 Bedford Street Fall River, MA 02720 508-676-8251 x185 [Email Removed] www.vnasm.org

You are correct. Microsoft Outlook is the only one that they support. Assistant Controller The Westminster Schools [Email Removed]
