    Tracking in-kind donations

We are revamping our In-kind donation process. I would like to know how others track inkind donations. How do you determine value? How do you acknowledge. Do you add these donors to your appeals for solicitations? Any other thoughts or comments would be appreciated. Linda Martin Gift Coordinator Cook Children's Health Foundation

    Tracking in-kind donations

We track all GINK donations in Raisers Edge and use Gift Type = Gift-In-Kind. So far as Fund is concerned, it is determined by the area of the hospital that benefits from the donation. The donor always assigns the value of the gift; if the value is over 5K (I think - I woud have to look at my IRS forms) certain forms must be filed by the donor or their financial adviser to the IRS. We also use a very specific in-kind (language wise) letter which can also be used as part of their filing. We also ask the donor to sign off on a "Gift of Tangible Property" statement, if it falls under that realm. Hope all this helps. Margaret Margaret Whitaker Presbyterian Hospital Foundation
