    Accounting Queue

Our backups that run at night are backup on a disk, and a tape that is taken off sight ever since Katrina. This is why they take such a long time. I have too tried to use a queue to email but the funny thing was our spam blocker on the email system filters it right out as SPAM.It also filters out some ofthe forum postings.

Despite the fact that I was assured this problem would be fixed by year end, it turns out it won't be fixed until the second quarter at the latest. This is the message I received from support "Thanks for the email. Unfortunately the issue was not fixed in the latest release as previously planned. The next version of the software is projected to be released in the second Quarter of this year. I will update you as soon as an update is available. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime." I've let Blackbaud know I'm not too happy paying for a product (and for support on top of that) that doesn't work. It defeats the purpose of the queue module if you have to manually reschedule the jobs every few days. Paul D. Wykes VP Finance and Information Systems Old Sturbridge Village

I probably dont need to tell you this Paul, but I would not expect Outlook to allow much of anything unusual to attach. I know that it unconditionally will not allow any Access databases to attach. They decided early on that it was simply too dangerous and that there was no practical way to build anything into Outlook to properly protect people. Outlook may be the problem with your application and of course if it is there is no work around other than to avoid it altogether.

Rather than working throught Outlook which will not allow this, why not trying working with an "outside" email provider that has less restrictions? If an email is set up and used only for this function and never used for anything else, you can lower your internet protection level to allow it through. For example, I have a yahoo account that I use to have items sent to if they can't get through to my email account. Then I log on via the internet and download the file that I need. It's not as convenient but it does solve the problem. Good luck!

Hi: The issue I was referring to has nothing to do with Outlook. The problem we are having is that Queue will run for a few days and then stop. It will only start running again if I reschedule the jobs - defeating the purpose of having Queue in the first place. This problem has been confirmed by Blackbaud and a fix was promised by December 31, 2006 but that has now been pushed off until at least the second quarter of 2007. Thanks. Paul D.
