Can I get the county to upload w/NCOA?

I just used the NCOA module for the first time - and thankfully everything seems to have gone well.

I have one problem, however. You see, we use Counties on our database. Every person who now has a new address (because of the NCOA update) now has to have their county changed appropriately --a huge task for me. Seeing as the USPS also tracks the county in which the address is located, is there a way that the county of the address can be included in all the NCOA updates??

I had the same problem and contacted RE Support. You can ship them your data and they can append that information, but it's rather costly.County information does not carry forward from NCOA and I'm not certain if the USPS even tracks that data (or perhaps the NCOA vendor doesn't get that data from the USPS). I had to use queries and then do corresponding global changes to update our county data. It was very cumbersome. It would be nice if the USPS provided that information (along with voting districts too).

We purchased BBs Address Validation for this purpose. It gives you the county and DPC codes. It also CASS Certifies your addresses which for us is a drawback. We validate each address we add to get the county and DPC code but then add back in punctuations and un-abbrviate some words. It is a pain in the neck but helps us get counties. Melissa G. Melissa S.
