Hi everyone,
Could somebody please tell me if there is a way to link many constituents to one action? It would make our lives a LOT easier.
Many thanks in advance

Haven't tried to go at it that way: Action to Constituents. But I know you can do Constit to Action. if you have the constituents in a query, do a global add of the action to the records. Maybe worth a try.
JoAnn,
If your constituents don't have any thing in common to pull through a query you can create a Specific Record query. Then go into Admin and do a global Action add. I've attached my procedure on how to pull a Specific Record Query.
Hope this helps.
Karen
Thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.
Your suggestion is a very helpful one. Unfortunately I don’t think I explained my question well enough. I need to connect many constituents to one specific action (not give many constituents the same action). So that if we open the specific meeting action on one constituent’s record we can see which other constituents also attended the same meeting. I hope I explained that ok.
Are you working through the events module?
If not, how is the action in the system? If you aren't using the events module, the global add will still work for you. Assign the meeting to your constituents through the global add. To see all attendees of the meeting you would create an action report specific to the meeting you want to view. Go into the Reports function of RE, Action Reports, Action Detail Report, select a query of your records, or all records and use the filter tab (2) to refine your report.

Hi Karen:
Your reply seems to actually answer a question I've had regarding global adds of Actions, Notes, Appeals and Packages. I have several external lists of constituents (including CIDs) that volunteers have been working on, and I wanted to globally update the relevant records with notes on the activities of the volunteers, and/or appeals/packages the constituents have received. Do you know anything, or know where I could go to learn, about using an extrernal CID list to populate the queries you're talking about?
I've posted a question on the topic in the Queries section too.
Hi Natalie,
Check out Importing into Raiser's Edge. There are knowledgebase documents on how it is done and what you need for headers. Remember to back up you database and test the backup before doing any imports.
Have fun...
Thanks, Karen; I really appreciate it!
Natalie,
I think the answer you are looking for is to set up an Action Track (it can be only one action). After this is done you have the option to assign one or many constituents to the action track. Check out the User Guides for RE 7:
Select Records.
Select Constituent Data Entry Guide
Click on Actions in the table of contents.
Click on Action Tracks...........and then go to page 300.
