How are other HS programs handling final transcripts when a student has transferred in form a school with a different GPA calculation?
Do you calculate all courses taken together on one transcript using your own GPA calculation? Does anyone attach transfer transcripts and leave them off your shcool's transcripts?
Just curious.......
We don't include academic information from other schools as we perceive that the information is only official if it comes from the original institution. It is also not a factor in our GPA.
Kimberly, we take a student's transcript from another school and match the classes as close as possible to what we offer. We translate their numeric or letter grades to our scale. We also show that these classes were taken at an outside school. We then calculate their GPA according to our calculations.
We go with the same plan- we only put our courses on our transcript and calculate our own GPA and have students obtain official transcripts from other schools with that separate GPA.
Sounds like we do what Landmark does. We match courses as closely as possible, or set up a shell of a course to be able to add as a transfer course, and then add the grade in using our GPA scale. We show that the credit was earned at another school (and show the name of the school) and we do calculate it into our GPA. A student has to attend our school for both junior and senior years to be considered for valedictorian or salutatorian. Occasionally a student comes in as a senior with a very, very different transcript and in that case we will just attach it for college application purposes.
