    Consultant Alumni/Development Systems Specialist - Salem State College, Salem, MA

    The alumni/development systems specialist (consultant) provides technical support including reporting writing and systems analysis. The focus of this position is to provide database applications support for the area of Institutional Advancement, particularly to the alumni and development functions. This individual will be required to collaborate with the college’s management information systems personnel and will work closely with the institutional advancement professional staff to provide data on constituents in support of meaningful development and alumni programs.  Reports to:  Assistant Vice President, Institutional AdvancementDuties:Coordinates the operation, use and maintenance of the Raisers’ Edge software, including system upgrades, database administration and backups.Analyzes and maintains ad-hoc queries and reports to meet the information needs of the area of Institutional Advancement.Prospect Management: prepares Excel charts showing key donor/prospect information for fundraising team.

    Assists in the day-to-day administration of constituent and donor base.

    Assist end-users to continually improve efficiency of processing, quality and usefulness of reports and accuracy of data.Communicate and troubleshoot with software vendors/consultants as necessary.Interpret department needs and translate those requirements into appropriate queries to extract relevant and meaningful data to enable Institutional Advancement staff to conduct meaningful development and alumni programs.Assist in the analysis of data; provide suggestions for alternative reporting and/or processing techniques to improve decision making capability of Institutional Advancement staff.Supports IA staff to maximize use of technology including Raisers’ Edge, and Net Solutions.Serve as liaison between Institutional Advancement and Information Technology and assist in the development and implementation of technical projects with a focus on IA Web pages and on-line registration.Coordinate and assist with the electronic transmission of data to and from external vendors and internal departments.Qualifications:Academic credentials and/or experience suitable to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, MIS or related field required. A combination of extensive experience and education will be considered in lieu of degree preference.Experience in a higher education alumni and/or development office and experience with Blackbaud’s Raisers’ Edge systems.Experience with RE NetSolutions to accept online donations and communicate with donors and prospects via emailDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with people of varying degrees of technical ability.Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegially in a team environment.Experience with data tools such as Crystal Reports, SQL or comparable tool set.Experience with Windows 2000 file handling and MS Office applications, particularly Word, Access and Excel.Experience in a higher education alumni and/or development office and experience with Blackbaud’s Raisers’ Edge systems.Experience with RE NetSolutions to accept online donations and communicate with donors and prospects via email

    Experience with Red Dot web content management system software a plus.
