Tracking event attendance without Event Module

We don't have the event module but would like to track the donors who attend our events in their record.  Can anyone suggest the best way to do this?

     Thank you,

Do you track the invitations either through an appeal or an action?  If you use an appeal, you could track the attendance as a response on the record.  If you use an action to track the mailing, you could have action attribute for attendance.

If you don't track the original mailing or invitation, you could still use either of those options on a smaller basis just for those who attended.

There is more than one way to track this, but I think I would go with Constituent Attributes unless there is a required gift entry purchase required and then I would look at using benefits. If we had more information about the event and whether or not you were tracking the invitations to the event somewhere (appeal, attribute, actions, etc.) that might help.

We've done it with Attributes. For example: Attribute Category named "Great Event 2009" with description "Attended" (I only add this when no gift record to show ticket purchase) Some other drop down descriptions we use in Attributes to manage events are: Invite Committee Member Auction Donor Auction Donor Prosect Sponsor Prospect
