Query's Total Gift Amount not adding up

    Hi all,

I ran a query for a constituent and under output i have from Summary Information -> Summary for Gifts ->Total Amount of Gifts. Under Fliters for that output i have nothing.

It displays $33,000 for total gift amount

I double click that number and I am taken to the constiuent, When I go to the "Gifts" I export gifts grid to excel, delete all soft credits, Replace all "Amount" values with their corresponding "Balance" value (if they there is one, eg for pledges). and SUM the values in the new Amount column

I get a value 33,200. and there is 200 that I cannot account for

I've spent a great deal of time trying to find this missing 200 dollars but I just cannot find it

    Please Advise.

Will think on it some more but I know I got a skewed report one time due to a 'split gift' - gift was split between two funds on the gift record instead of two gifts to different funds.  It reported out full gift amount for both funds.  Do you have any split gifts where amount could be double counted?

I think JoAnn's right -- it really sounds like a split gift somewhere. What if you change your Query to use "Gift Amout" under "Gifts", but also add in "Split Amount" under both "Campaigns" and "Funds". You might find a one gift where the receipt amount doesn't match the split amount.

It might help if you would tell us what you are using this query for - Query is not a reporting tool (it's a grouping tool for records you want to include in a report or export) so there may be other tools within RE that will accomplish what you need to do a little more easily.

Have you looked at the Gift Detail & Summary Reports or Constituent Profiles to accomplish your task?

Query thoughts: Take a look at your Record & gift processing options in your query to see if you're applying all to both for Soft credits & Matching Gifts. Also, sometimes when you use the summary function in query for gift amount if you do not use filters it can leave out some gift types so you may want to add some filters in there.

    Hopefully some of this helps

Re: Query's Total Gift Amount not adding up

    Thanks all.

I have a general feeling i Kind of know what happened.. When i look under the constituent profile history gifts or something like that... it says total pledge is 1200, but I can only find 1000, and a 50 000pledge for 200$ monthly was written off  for 50 000. My guess is someone before me deleted a couple files or something or other.

I'll leave it be. I don't want to spend more time chasing ghosts. Thanks though Smile
