    Pledge Payments

What would be the best way to indicate a pledge payment is for a major pledge that we've already counted?  For example Mr. Smith pledge $500,000 in 2005 and every year he makes a pledge payment of $100,000.   When I do a gift export or report, I don't want to count that pledge payment but want to be able to count much smaller pledge payments.  Would a gift attribute of major pledge be something to consider?

    Thanks for your help

It sounds to me like a gift attribute would work, but you need to consider whether every report you will be running allows inclusion/exclusion based on gift attribute.  And data entry staff would need to know what constitutes a major pledge.  I would probably try querying on pledge amount <= $$.  That way, you can decide each time you run the query which pledges to exclude.  Best of luck,

Can gift exports be exported?  I don't want to query on them.

I'm sorry I meant to say gift attributes.  Can they be exported.

Though I haven't tried gift attribute export - I say yes.  When I open export, create new export - gift, one of the options of field to output is attributes.  When you select an attribute it gives option to output description, date, comment....

So it sure looks like it would be easy to do.
