Slow query when using "or" with "constituent id one of"

I have been having problems with a query that I ran last year without any issues, but this year, am experiencing extreme slowness when it runs. The only thing that I changed were the gift dates. I just wanted to see if any other RE users have experienced this.  We are currently on version 7.85 and haven't upgraded yet to 7.91.

When I run a query to list any constituent who gave a total of $1000 or more last fiscal year, it runs very quickly.  As soon as I add OR "constituent id one of" equal to just 15 constituent ids, the query takes forever to run.  I have several other OR statements to add asking for particular Constituency codes and certain Constituent Specific Attributes.  When I add only those two OR statements to my original query (leaving out the "constituent id one of" part), it slows the query down some, but nothing significant.   Adding the "constituent id one of" practically brings the query to a halt.

Has anyone else every experienced similar problems with OR queries?  Any suggestions for how to get my query to run?  I then have to merge this query with another query and eventually use it in a global add.   The one time I got it to run, it took 4 1/2 hours.  I have never ran a global add using a query that takes that long to run.  Will that cause problems with my global add?

Any help you can provide me with will be greatly appreciated.  I have been working on this for two weeks and am totally frustrated with this query. Sad

    Thanks!!

I just ran into a similar problem yesterday.   I too am using 7.85.  I searched the Knowledgebase and apparently there is a known issue when using multiple conditions in queries that are based on summary information.    The recommendation that Blackbaud gives is to break up your queries and then use the merge query function.  A big pain :(

Are you also having trouble with your exports?    I have been having problems with slow exports for quite some time now and haven't gotten much help from Blackbaud.   They just tell me that they are aware of the problem when exporting Orgs using Addresss Processing but can't tell me when it will be fixed.  They offer workarounds using Mail, but none of these workarounds are appropriate for what I am trying to accomplish (exporting gift information as well as biographical info).

I have been using Raiser's Edge for a long time, but recently it seems that every time they release a patch that fixes a problem it causes a different problem.   I hate that functionality that once worked perfectly is suddenly lost and you can wait for months before the problems are resolved (if ever).

Okay,  I'm done complaining, but I am anxious to hear from other users who have similar problems with export and what they are doing to work around the issue.  It all started when we installed a patch bringing us up to 7.85.5026.2.   Blackbaud tells me it is not yet resovled in 7.91 and I am a little reluctant to upgrade since who knows what other problems may surface.

Glad to know that I am not the only one experiences slowness with queries and exports.  I am about ready to break my query into two separate queries and then merge them.  I would love to hear from users who have upgraded to 7.91 to see if they are also experiencing similar problems.

    thanks!!
