2 versions of the workstation install

We are thinking about upgrading but would like to run our old version and install 7.7.  Is it possible to run two versions of The Financial Edge on the same workstation?  This way we may start the new version fresh.

    Hello Steve,

Thanks for posting your question.  Only one instance of The Financial Edge can be installed on a workstation at a time.  Other organizations in your situation install the older version on a standalone machine for quick and easily access to the old database and have the new version on the rest of the workstations.

When you say you want to start the new version fresh, do you mean with a blank database?  If this is the case, you can attach both databases to the BMC, which will allow you to access either database from each workstation.  This way you can set up the new database while you still have access to the old database on all workstations.  The only hitch about this scenario is you either need to update the old database to the new version (7.7) or configure the new database on the old version.  I hope this helps.

    Jennifer
