One of the ways we currently track the activities of our team is through the use of Activity Types. We use Identify, Engage, Cultivate, Solicit and Stewardship in AF (Annual Fund), MG (Major Gifts), EV (Events), PG (Planned Gifts), & GR (Grants) - so we'd have AF Identify, MG Identify, EV Identify, etc. We are looking for the best way to record activity that follows the solicitation of a gift. Once the solicitation has been made, the development officer may call or stop by to see the donor again prior to receiving the final answer. Is this Cultivation or should we create another action type = Solicit follow up? We have been discussing the pros & cons and I'd like some input.
Thanks

You can create another action type, but it depends how specifc you really need to be as it is not a major step in the solicitation process and the last thing you want is lots and lots of action types. However, if you wanted to be able to identify that step in the process and extract all actions that had been solicit follow ups, then you will need it. If this is not necessary then you can class it as cultivation or follow up and you can use the notepad to identify what the action was.
I hope that helps.
