When running the monthly departmental income reports, I'm having to pull the college/division from an attribute defined in the project. This means the report pulls very slowly. The reason I'm pulling from the attribute is because our budget is in the unrestricted fund, but the donations are booked in the various restricted/permanent funds, and we need to be able to show the income from the donations. Does anyone know of a quicker way to pull by college/division? I've thought of adding that definition to the first tab "Project" under "Division" might work --
Any ideas on this?
A somewhat related solution - if your reports are taking a long time, set them to run, using attributes, in queue. And then run the queue overnight. We have our queues set up to dump the reports into buckets (one for income statements, one for project activity, etc.). They are set to export as .pdf files. We then move them to a monthly "reports sent" folder en masse - since they have similar names, all reports for a department or college are grouped together. We then email them to the relevant contact person, with a standard email "body". So while the report routine takes quite some time (our longest takes 5 hours), it's nighttime - and the emailing of the reports, even though we send 1600 pages, to 60 people, in about 135 separate reports, takes only about an hour. The users can choose to print the reports, redistribute them electronically to other folks, or review and file them electronically. We save the monthly reports sent folder to respond to questions, and make changes to recipients and attributes once a month to respond to personnel changes and reorganizations. An excel sheet keeps the "emailout" organized, identifying the recipient of each batch of reports - and this month's sheet with changes becomes next month's sheet.
