I need to be able to pull pledges w/in a date range an ffrom the reaults, send letter to each constituent based on pledge amount. I have created 4 letters and 4 levels:
Less than $25 print Letter 1
$25 - $499 print Letter 2
$500 - $2,499 print Letter 2
Greater than $2,500 print Letter 3
How to set-up query...
I would use a gift query, gift type = pledge, gift date = your date range.
I a bit confused from all the postings if you are exporting data to merge in Word or actualling using RE mail function with a conditional merge. If you need a query for each letter, then add gift amount = xxxx.
JoAnn, Thank you for posting! I have the export and conditions setup - the problem is the conditional mail merge will not create the letters. The software hangs up and run run and run until I stop it from processing.
I am running Window Vista MsWord 2007. It will not create the letters. Do you know if Blackbaud have corrected this problem? I have the last updated version .
If I'm following you, you are doing an export from RE to excel or access and then using a letter created in MS Word as your merge document. Once you've exported your data out of RE, I believe any problems you have are Microsoft not Blackbaud issues.
Sorry not much help with why Excel/Word are not working for you.
No, I am using the Wizard in Blackbaud with the condition = gift amount. The letters are created in the wizard but the system will not create the letters.
Yes, I also used the export feature in Blackbaud but the same thing happens, the system never create the letters.
Do this work using four letters and four conditions?
Knowledgebase solution BB168224 has steps on how to run a conditional mail merge based on a range of gift amounts - hope that helps!
Sometimes the letters are not created because of simple things...how many letters do you have? Try just moving the letters to the top of the list. Also, check to see that they are all formatted exactly the same.
Hope a simple answer helps.
