How do you track each special projects funds? We have projects like "playground", "clinical care", "landscaping" and "art project". We only use appeals for actual requests for money. We use funds for the checking account the donations go to. Would love some suggestions.
If they all go to same GL account/fund then that's not an option. I'd suggest the gift subtype. It's a table field on each gift record so entry would be consistent, can be used for query.

We have fund Programs/Specified Equipment then Gift Attributes Category Designations -->P - Butterfly Garden
You should definitely not use Campaigns or Appeals. Those are for the source of the money, not for where it's going. For example, a campaign might be "Direct Mail" and an appeal might be "Fall 09 Renewal." What you are describing are Funds. If you are using Funds for checking accounts, it seems you are not getting the maximum use out of them, because it's hard to imagine you would have dozens of checking accounts. I would use Funds for its intended purpose and explore another way to direct gifts into particular checking accounts. Maybe in the "reference" field on the gift?
Agreed, these are Funds that are being described. We here have two banks that gifts get deposited to. In order to differentiate which bank that donation should be deposited to, we use gift subtype and the name of the banking institution is reflected in the gift subtype.
