Last year we completely restructured our campaign/fund/appeals.
The old system was: Campaigns = multi-year, Funds = multi-year & match our GL, Appeals = a big mess, multi-year, usually the same as the fund, Packages = yearly
New system is: Campaigns - multi-year, Funds = multi-year and 90% of gifts go into Annual, Appeals = yearly & match our GL (ex. Walk2008, Walk2009), Packages = further breakdown of appeals (ex. pledges, raffle, etc.)
I'm questioning the setup yet again. I'm just now realizing that this structure makes comparing appeals from year to year impossible with canned reports. They require me to have one appeal to compare different date ranges. I can compare funds year to year, but b/c funds don't mean anything to anyone around here that doesn't help me. Also, we have yearly goals for each appeal which is why I initially set them up yearly.
So now I'm thinking I will need to create custom reports to compare my appeals from year to year which seems like a big undertaking. Anyone have any ideas or help to compare yearly appeals?
