    Gift Codes

I am trying to determine how other users of R/E in the healtchcare field use the "Gift Code" field under the Miscellaneous tab of a gift in terms of what is entered in this field?

We don't use 'Gift Code' at all...am not sure what it can be used for.

I actually use it to note if the gift came via payroll deduction - this allows me to pull out all my payroll deduction gifts when doing analysis. It also allows me an easy way to balance to the checks that come with the large lists of payroll deductions.

This is a required field in my organization.  We have 6 affiliates, this gives us the ability at the end of the month to reconcile and be

sure the funds match the affiliate.

    Another possible use -

We started using it at the beginning of the year to record what section of a our campaign/fund the gift came from.  Exec wanted a report to show YTD $ raised by each group.  Couldn't get info he wanted using constit codes or by solicitor analysis, so put sections in as gift code - works great to generate the comparisons he is looking for.
