    General Ledger Report

Is there a way to run a general ledger report for several periods and get the transaction amount and the running balance per period (i.e. a 3 month GL with transactions and the account balance after each month)?

Yes.  Go to General Ledger Report, and choose your report, or create a new one.  Then, on the Format tab, select Detail.  Check the box to subtotal by period.

This is one of the features I really like.  Most accounting/bookkeeping software do not have this!

With respect, Melissa, I've done this. What I want is a GL report that shows the account balance at the end of each period selected instead of manually having to take the difference between the dr's & cr's. Frankly, I haven't seen accounting software that doesn't do this as a default GL report!

Hey Jerry.  We are releasing a new product later this year that will give you exactly what you're looking for.  It's called F9 for The Financial Edge (F9). This handy Excel tool integrates directly with your General Ledger data allowing you to create custom reports and formulas. Simply create your GL report in Excel, add your custom formulas to show the transaction amount and running balances, press F9 on your keyboard, and Excel will populate the GL data. Check out the F9 for The Financial Edge and You blog for more information.

    Hope this helps.
