    Basic Import Issue

I'm having some trouble performing a basic import from an excel file (CSV) into RE. I've followed every guide that I can find on Blackbaud, but when I try to validate or import, I receive an error code that says, "The Number of fields specified to Import does not match the number of fields in the Import File."

Am I just missing something? Is there an easy fix for this? Thanks for any help.

    Re: Basic Import Issue

Have had that error before :-)

I had fields in my import file that I had did not import into RE (had exported for data/reference but was not importing back in).  Look at how many fields you have (not records) in your import and then at those listed on the import fields tab and see if they are the same.  I tend to keep a copy of my file with all the fields I've been using and then 'save as' with just the fields to be imported.  After deleting fields, back on import function make sure there are not blank lines on the right hand side of the fields tab.  RE is expecting data and they could be your extra fields.

I think that's what I did to solve problem when I encountered

    Best wishes...

    Re: Basic Import Issue

Sometimes the only solution is to re-create an import.

    Re: Basic Import Issue

This is really annoying, but happens when you remove data from rows or columns in your csv, but do not choose to delete the whole row or column, therefore the import is expecting data that isn't there.

You won't need to recreate the whole import again.

    Re: Basic Import Issue

I've gotten this error before when there are BLANK cells in the data sheet. Check your import file.
