    Acknowledging a gift from a donor-advised fund

If you receive a gift from a foundation that is a grant from a donor-advised fund, do you send an acknowledgment to both the foundation and the donor advisor?  If so, how do you do this?  We record the gift as being from the foundation (the legal donor) and soft-credit the donor advisor (who is usually the constituent associated with our organization that recommended that a grant be given to us).  We generate a thank you letter to the foundation directly from the gift record using the appropriate letter code.  My thought for generating an acknowledgment (without receipt) to the donor advisor would be to create a constituent letter template that can be accessed from the donor advisor's record.

I send an acknowledgment letter to the individual who advised the gift but remove the fine print at the bottom of our letter that talks about tax deduction. So basically, our letter is just a thank-you letter telling our donor that we appreciate them for advising a gift from a so-and-so fund. I hope this helps!
