Our organization will receive a gift-in-kind of art upon donor's death. Any suggestions on how to record this in RE would be helpful.
We have a Lifetime Membership to a Planned Giving Society for those donors that remember us in their estate planning. We track this as an attribute. If there is no revenue recordable gift I put verbal in the comments field of the attribute. I don't belive you have anything that I would consider a legal bookable revenue gift at this point but you could place a note in their constituent record.
We track donors who have included us in the estate plans with a "Legacy Leader" constituent code. We don't enter any gift information until the donor passes away. We do enter information in the "notes" section to alert future employees of the contact with the donor.
When we receive the estate gift, we create a new organization record "Estate of Name" for the gift. This allows us to track the donor's giving during his/her lifetime as well.
