    "Retired" business relationship

Where is the best place to capture a "retired" business relationship? I notice the sample database captures it in Professions. I know of an organization that captures it in Relationships, but does not have a Reciprocal Relationship to match it. We have it in several places on different records and we are trying to clean up our Data Standards Manual to reflect entering it into only one place.

We capture it as an attribute on the organzational relationship of retired = yes. We also have the relationship as former employer and the reciprocal as retired employee.

We capture it as a constituent attribute called "Employment Status" with the description value of "Retired".  In the comment field, we enter some text about where they last held employment.

It does not make any sense to me to capture this in a relationship when they no longer have the relationship.  How would the system know which prior relationship to look in for this information?  If it's a constituent attribute, you can access this information very easily but it does require the extra step of entering the information about their last employment.
