Can someone give me an example of why you'd use a constituent code vs. an attribute.
Thanks!
LSM
Hi Lori,
The way it's been explained to me in a user group meeting is that a Constituent Code is what the constituent's relationship is to the organization (why s/he is in the database - board member, etc.), and an Attribute is a descriptor of the constituent.
Hope this helps.
Chris
Attributes are also used to store bits of information that don't fit into other areas of the constituent record. Also, constituent codes can be attached to each gift (required in my office), and reports can be run based on the constituent code on the constituent record OR on the gift record. Lori, you might want to search this forum (and Blackbus if you subscribe to it). There have been lots of questions & debate around constituent codes and you'll find good information there. Best,
Leslie
