    The Foundation for NIH seeks an experienced database administrator to oversee and further professionalize its fundraising database (Raiser's Edge) and related systems. Part of an 8-person team, this position oversees and participates in the prospect research and data entry functions and supports all aspects of the organization's fundraising and partnership development program.

    DEVELOPMENT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR 

    NATURE OF WORK

     This is an administrative position responsible for managing and maintaining the Partnership Development Department’s donor database and related systems.  Work includes prospect research and first line supervisory responsibility in carrying out the daily responsibilities of overseeing donor and prospect information management at the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH).  This includes maintaining information according to existing processes, as well as continually improving systems by developing and implementing new policies and procedures.  Position is also responsible for entry of information including constituent, relationship, prospect and gift information, into Raiser’s Edge and designing and producing reports and other outputs.  Work is performed under the supervision of the Director, Partnership Development.  Incumbent supervises Database Assistant and Prospect Researcher. 
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develops, documents and continuously improves procedures for donor and prospect information processing and recording in electronic (Raiser’s Edge) and paper files; oversees the timely entering of data into Foundation database including constituent, prospect, action, correspondence and gift information; oversees database consultant(s) and assistant. Oversees prospect research to/for fundraisers and program managers; assists with conducting prospect research as necessary, to gather, compile and synthesize information from a variety of sources to produce prospect lists and donor profiles.  Manages gift receipt, tracking and acknowledgement process, including timely entry of all gifts into donor database; tracks and reports on contribution and pledge payments, ensures production of gift reminders and timely drafting and production of acknowledgements and gift receipts. Coordinates with finance to ensure reconciliation of gift information; provides updated financial and narrative reports to donors for key memorial funds and other programs; produces fundraising management reports. Assists with solicitations, donor reports, stewardship activities, electronic newsletters and direct mail, online giving and mass mailings; tracks and reports success. 

    Ensures database is current, maintained and updated for fullest potential and departmental use; trains new staff on Raiser’s Edge.

      PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT 

    Work is performed in an office environment and involves everyday risks or discomforts which requires normal safety precautions when operating equipment and performing the work.  Work is essentially sedentary with occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying items under 25 pounds such as books, papers, small parcels, etc.

     
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSWork requires a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or business, or a related field, and three to five years of experience in database management, preferably in a not-for-profit organization; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities and skills: Skill in using software packages, specifically Raiser’s Edge, Crystal Reports, Microsoft Word and Excel. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, databases and equipment. Ability to work effectively with staff, partners and the public. Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters and information. Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and with careful attention to detail. Ability to deal with others, using tact and diplomacy. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to work in a changing environment and as part of a team, taking on tasks at all levels.  LICENSES, CERTIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
