    MissionFish

Has anyone gotten donations from MissionFish and if so how do you code them; as a organization or do you get the individual donor info and code as individual and soft credit missionfish

    Thanks

    Monica,

New name to me, but if the gift is from them, they are the donor.  I would enter them as an org.  I would soft credit any individual associated with the gift.  If they gift no directives regarding gift acknowledgement.  I would receipt them (tax-deduction if appropriate) and then acknowledge gift letter to individual.

Thanks JoAnn, MissionFish is associated with Ebay Giving Woks, just in case you wanted to research them for other ways to give.

    Re: MissionFish

We get money from them occasionaly, it is the donation or profit given by ebay buyers and sellers to our charity. We add it into MissionFish Org record and code them as fundraising general appeal and general fund. Hope it helps.

How do you enter information if there was a percenatge taken out for fees?  You cannot soft credit each individual for the full amount of their donation since the gross is more than the amount on the MissionFish check.

    Re: MissionFish

Missionfish is a not for profit so you would need to handle this the way you do a United Way, etc. Missionfish legally gets the Hard Credit for the gift and you can soft-credit any individuals they make you aware of and send a thank you to them that doesn't indicate any dollar amount. Missionfish would be the one actually sending the 'donor' a receipt

Your Donor Recognition policies should be robust enough that you can manually move someone to another giving level should you feel that the intent was to give more money but the fees that were charged made them miss the next level by a few dollars.
