Importing Event Information from Excel into RE7

    Hello,

What format should data be in on a spreadsheet so that it can import correctly into RE? For instance, I assume each column in Excel should have a header that corresponds with tab information in RE, correct?

Is there any specific order each column should be in to make the import run smoother or does it not really matter?

I searched the forum here to  find out more on this but came up with nothing. If nayone could be so kind as to fill me in on what to do or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Hi Carl,

Generally speaking, importing from a spreadsheet into RE is best done with a CSV. You will also need the correct headers for each column, which can be found by going to the help tab in RE, clicking on The Raiser's Edge Help Topics, and then typing in Import Tables List in the search field. Unfortunately the headers aren't the same as the headers you get when you export out of RE...

There shouldn't be any specific order of columns necessary. however, as with everything in life, RE has it quirks... If you already have some events set up in RE you could create an Import file of one of them to see what types of columns you have in there, and what they're called.

Don't forget to validate before importing, and test import with 1 or 2 lines of data first. It could save you hours...

    Thanks

    Lee
