Is there a way to change the settings so that RE does not automatically log out a user when a session is idle for 15 mins?
Though I have no direct answer, my account doesn't log off - even if I leave it open all day without using it.
I'm using 7.71
Pete
This is a brand new feature in 7.91. Because it is so new are you on a Beta version? I did not know it had been released yet! You will need to check with BB Knowledgebase because so few of us will have upgraded yet.
yes this is the beta version, thanks
The 15 minute inactivity setting, implemented in version 7.91, was made in accordance with PCI DSS requirements.
Rule 8.5.15 states "If a session has been idle for more than 15 minutes, require the user to re-enter the password to reactivate the terminal."
For more information, check out the solution in our new Knowledgebase which is in customer preview - http://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?page=content&id=BB700189.
As this is introduced to enforce security, I was told this cannot be customized. So if you have batches big in sizes which take more than 15minutes to commit, or data export/import and mail merges in large sizes, this will be a problem. Latest news was Blackbaud is implenting a patch to fix and this has much bigger impact on organizations processing bigger files.
Is it like a screen saver/network lock or you do have to go through the full log on routine again?
This is crazy. It takes several minutes for us to log in (network issue that cannot be fixed) and in the past it had been used as an argument to not use RE (takes too long to open...). I also have researchers who most of the time feed RE as they find info in books, newspapers & internet. There is certainly more than 15 minutes in between each search!!
