    Grants

I am looking to see if there is a way to track grants in Raisers Edge.  For example...the ask, pending, denied, the amount committed, etc?  OR if there is a software that someone recomends.  We maybe ask for 100 grants...don't know if a software is worth it or just keeping track on an excel spreadsheet is the most efficient.

    Thank you

    Sarah

    Re: Grants

You could track them in Actions. For example, the action type could be ask, pending, denied, etc.

    Re: Grants

We were having similar problems, so we purchased the Search module for Raiser's Edge which gives us the Prospect tab.  We are still working on implementing the process for entering the data, etc., but it houses all the information you would want to store for grants and proposals.

The RE:Search module is something you can purchase to add on to RE and works very well.  You need to standardize how you use it and set up policies and procedures or it can easily become a mess but it can hold a lot of information on grant prospects.  It can also be used for major gift prospects so the cost may be able to be shared between these two programs.

    Re: Grants

    Hi Sarah.

We consider grants to be contributions to the foundation. We track our prospective donors ($10,000 or more) in the Prospect module of RE. That being said, you can track prospective donors using actions, constituency codes, attributes and export the data to Excel for reporting purposes. We used this process before purchasing the prospect module in 2000.

I have procedures for our prospect module data entry if you are interested.  I'd be happy to talk about how to track grant/contributions other ways as well. Fell free to contact me.

I posted my prospect module procedures in the client shared documents section of BB a couple years ago, they may still be there.
