    Ticket Printers

My institution is looking into buying some bulk ticket printers. Currently we just use paper receipts. Looking at what is out there, it seems that Boca printers are the most common, but there is also the Datamax S-series. Does anyone have experience with any one of these companies, any issues with Patron's Edge?

    Re: Ticket Printers

I use Datamax S-Class printers - and they work great for us, they are very good printers.  All of my complaints about ticket printing come from PE, not from the printer itself.  It just seems like every week or so, my print servers need to be stopped and restarted in the middle of the day.

I've also used Bocas before with other ticketing systems and they are reliable as well.  When we converted to PE from Prologue we found that our old Bocas just couldn't print the quality we wanted.  The printers were just old, as we decided to buy Datamaxs instead of repairing the old ones.

We have a Boca which is great when it works, but has a tendency to present all manner of bizarre and seemingly inexplicable errors such as partially spooling blank tickets and missing some data fields off. The print queue nrequires constant restarting too. Though it's perfectly possible this is all down to our PE settings, I'd advise something else if you have the option!!

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

At this point we are leaning toward the Datamax S series. For those of you who use Datamax printers, where do you gert your ticket stock?

WWL (Weldon Williams & Lick) is one of the most reputatble ticket stock dealers out there. I also have to send my support for BOCA - I used them for over 10 years, 5 years consulting with multiple clients that used them and they were a great company to work with.

We've been using Consolidated Printing for the past 3 years - They gave us the best deal.  I've also used BOCA in the past - however with BOCA printers, not Datamax.
